Shukuma Swaziland!
Greetings and welcome to yet another edition of your favourite read, Shukuma Swaziland.
Last week Thursday, the Swaziland National Sport and Recreation Council (SNSRC) unveiled the list of nominees for the inaugural National Sports Awards 2017. The glitzy affair was held at the Gigi’s Restaurant in Ezulwini where representatives of the National Sports Associations, administrators, athletes, coaches and the media houses were present.
The Swaziland National Sports Awards are the ultimate reward program of sport in Swaziland. The Awards seek to recognise and motivate excellence in sport participation by all sport practitioners.
SELECTION OF NOMINEES
Nomination is guided the National Sports Awards Rulebook. The National Sports Awards are designed in a way that involves contributions from all of the over 25 recognised National Sport Associations and other relevant stakeholders, including the media.
Recognised National Sport Associations are encouraged to host their own respective annual awards whose winners should ideally become nominees of these Awards. Nominations in each category are unlimited in number. However, only the top three nominees for each category are announced prior to the Awards Gala Evening, with the exception of the Lifetime Achievement Award whose winner is announced on the night by the Honourable Minister of Sport, Culture & Youth Affairs. The SNSRC Chairman may from time to time award additional special awards to deserving sports practitioners.
